Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) runs both ways. Along with TDS suffering loathers of Trump, who say he does nothing right, there are also TDS suffering lovers of Trump, who say he does nothing wrong. When it comes to the latter, Trump’s Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding with Iran, which he signed yesterday, is a perfect example. Looked at objectively, it forces any open-minded rather than brainwashed MAGA American to conclude that Donald Trump has morphed into Barack Obama and Joe Biden in his dealings with Iran. In fact, it even raises one’s suspicion that Trump might be somewhat cognitively impaired, like his immediate presidential predecessor. 

Every American ought to applaud Trump for his courageous military operations Midnight Hammer and Epic Fury, which were intended to prevent the theocratic, genocidal, and terrorist regime of Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Unlike previous chicken-livered Commanders-in Chief, Trump refused to twiddle his thumbs while the mad mullahs of Tehran continued their mad dash toward nuclear armament. However, our previous clapping and shouted bravos, which Trump truly deserved for taking on Tehran’s terrorist regime, have presently turned into a Bronx Cheer, over Trump’s failure to finish the job. Concerned over rising gas prices, falling favorable poll numbers, and our upcoming midterm elections, Trump has decided to let Tehran off the hook, for pure political expediency’s sake. By doing so, he is not only repeating the same mistake that his presidential predecessors made in their dealings with the mad mullahs of Iran, but doing so for the very same reason; namely, what’s best for him and his political party, not what’s best for the peace of the world and our own national security.

Yesterday, following the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding with Iran, we finally got a glimpse of the details of Trump’s deal with the double-dealing pathological liars of Tehran’s theocratic, genocidal, and terrorist regime. Needless to say, the details are not just disconcerting, but downright dumbfounding. To begin with, it calls for the termination of all military operations, including Israel’s military operations against the Iranian proxy Hezbollah in Lebanon, which continues to fire missiles at Israel’s civilian population on an almost daily basis. 

Immediately after the signing, Trump publicly admonished Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to adopt a “softer touch” toward Hezbollah terrorists, who are not only hellbent on eliminating the nation of Israel, but also on exterminating all Israelis. After all, “Netanyahu,” as Trump went on to say, “gets a little excited ‌sometimes.” Can you imagine that, a Prime Minister getting a little excited over missiles being fired into his country daily by diabolical terrorists who not only want to wipe out his country, but also its citizenry?

Another dumbfounding thing Trump’s deal with Iran credulously stipulates is the following: “Iran reaffirms that it shall not procure or develop nuclear weapons.” I guess this means that we are to gullibly forget that the mad mullahs of Iran have repeatedly reneged on all of their previous reaffirmations that they will not procure or develop nuclear weapons, so that we can trust them and take their word for it this time. Never mind that the mad mullahs of Iran have persistently proven themselves to be pathological liars, who can never be trusted as far as you can spit, Trump has decided to not only swallow his saliva, but also to swallow—hook, line, and sinker—another Iranian promise not to procure or develop nuclear weapons. Consequently, Trump has secured nothing more from Iran than Barack Obama did; namely, the unscrupulous word of Tehran’s untrustworthy terrorist regime. 

Finally, and most dumbfounding of all, Trump’s deal with Iran not only calls for the termination of all sanctions against Iran and for the unfreezing of all Iranian assets, but also for $300 billion to be given to the Islamic Republic of Iran for its reconstruction and economic development. Furthermore, this  dumbfounding deal even authorizes the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic to disburse all of these billions of dollars to beneficiaries of its own choosing. In other words, we’re going right back to funding Iran’s terrorist regime, which will in turn undoubtedly go right back to funding its nuclear program and terrorist proxies, like Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis. When the smoke finally clears from all of our military operations in Iran, I’m afraid we’re going to find ourselves right back where we started, once again staring down the possibility of Iranian nuclear missile silos and watching Iran and its proxies once again perpetrating terrorist attacks all over our world.
