Two motives Christians should never have are guilt and fear. We should never been shamed into doing something by guilt nor shoved into doing something by fear. While we should be motivated by the Spirit’s conviction, we should never be motivated by Satan’s condemnation (Romans 8:1). While we should live by faith in the Word of God, we should never live in fear over the words of others. In fact, it’s said that the Bible contains 365 “fear nots,” one for every day of the year!

In light of the above, ask yourself how we are presently be compelled in this country to wear masks in pubic. Is it not by guilt and fear? We are told we must wear a mask, not only for our own protection, but for the protection of others. If we fail to do so, we may contract the coronavirus and die or callously infect others for whom we apparently have no concern. Thus, we must wear a mask for our own survival and to prove we care for public safety.

The key consideration here is not whether the coronavirus is a serious illness or not. It obviously is, in spite of the fact that its statistics have been ominously overstated. The key question here is: “On what basis are we being bullied, by guilt and fear, into wearing masks?” Is it not on the word of our medical and scientific experts, whose word is presented to us as incontrovertible, despite the fact that they have contradicted themselves and continue to contradict each other. For instance, some say masks are effective, others say they are useless, and some even say they are harmful. The only thing they seem to agree on is that masks definitely do not guarantee mask-wearers from being infected with the coronavirus or from infecting others.

The Bible tells us that God is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33). Therefore, we can be assured that it is the god of this world, the devil, who is behind our current, confusing and often contradictory coronavirus guidelines (2 Corinthians 4:4). When you couple this confusion with coercion—our government’s attempt to shove us with fear and to shame us with guilt into submission—the hoof prints of the devil are easily spotted all over the current goings-on in our country.

I’m reminded of the Muslim doctrine of abrogation every time I think of our country’s chief expert on infectious diseases, Dr. Anthony Fauci. According to Muslims, the Prophet Mohammed’s many contradictions are to be overlooked as inspired revisions to the word of Allah. Each contradiction is simply an improvement, which abrogates all the prophet’s previous sayings on that particular subject. Therefore, the applicable and authoritative word that all Muslims are to follow today is the last word Mohammed spoke on any given subject, which abrogates all of the prophet’s previous and contradictory teachings on that same subject.

Dr. Anthony Fauci initially said that there was no need for Americans to wear masks to curb the spread of the coronavirus. He also said that masks were ineffective, since they leak. He later proposed masks to be helpful, then championed them as essential, and finally called for them to be made mandatory. I guess, like the Prophet Mohammed, Fauci’s many contradictions are to be overlooked as inspired revisions to the infallible word of his god—science. You and I, therefore, are to unquestionably take the good doctor’s latest word as authoritative and applicable, since it abrogates all his previous contradictions.

In 1 Timothy 6:20, the Apostle Paul warns us not to be deceived by the contradictions of what is falsely called science. There has never been a time when Christians need to take this scriptural admonition more to heart than today. More than anything else, it is false science that is being weaponized and wielded by our government to scare us and shame us into submission. If we don’t wake up to what’s going on we’ll soon find America dealing with something far worse than a disease; namely, a despotism!
