If you're a college football fan you're undoubtedly familiar with the Oregon Ducks. I'd like to propose Oregon change its name from Ducks to "Daffy Ducks." The reason for my proposed name change is twofold. First, Oregon's Labor Commissioner, Brad Avakian, recently upheld a ludicrous $135,000 fine levied against a Christian couple, Aaron and Melissa Klein, for refusing to bake a wedding cake for a lesbian couple's same-sex marriage ceremony. According to the lesbian couple, the crime committed against them by the Kleins was "mental rape." The lesbian couple's list of 178 purported damages, for which Oregon's courts imposed the $135,000 fine on the Kliens, included such things as "dislike of going to work" and "irritability with family." Who would have ever thought that homosexuals could suffer such devastation in their lives by a Christian owned bakery's refusal to give them one of their cakes and allow them to eat it too?
As if this lunacy was not loony enough, Oregon's Labor Commissioner, Brad Avakian, has now ordered the Kleins to "cease and desist" from making any public comments about their Christian convictions relative to their case. Who would have ever thought that Oregon's little Labor Commissioner had the power to squelch and silence Christian convictions in Oregon? Who does Mr. Avakian think he is and how can you explain Oregon's silence over their Labor Secretary declaring their state a no-Christan zone apart from the fact that Oregonians have gone completely daffy?
My second reason for the proposed name change from ducks to "Daffy Ducks" is Oregon's new law that allows children as young as fifteen to get a sex change operation without parental notification or consent. Yes, you read that correctly; I'm not making it up. Just think, in Oregon your son Steve could go to school one day and come home, unbeknownst to you and obviously much to your chagrin, as an Eve rather than a Steve. Of course, all of this is now state sanctioned in Oregon and any peep of parental protest condemned as transphobia. How dare any parent in the state of Oregon insist upon parental consent before the performance of a sex change operation on their child. Such unreasonable demands of parents is obviously proof of the parents' transphobia and prejudice against the transgendered.
In the "Daffy Duck" state of Oregon today, little semblance of sanity can be found. Of course, the Bible teaches that those who sellout to sin always end up sick in the head (Isaiah 1:5). The insanity that is spreading in our country today, not just in the state of Oregon, is caused by our country's insurrection against God. As our hearts grow more calloused our society becomes more crazy.
