Here's a perfect example of the kind of deception today's Americans, including American evangelicals, are prone to. We are continually being duped by demands that we hold to previous propositions no longer tenable in today's America. For instance, the press in yesterday's America was the watchdog of the people. It reported facts and kept our elected representatives accountable. Today, however, the press is for the most part propaganda, designed to advance the liberal ideology of the vast majority of modern-day journalists. The news is intentionally tainted and the facts twisted in order to corrupt public opinion. When it comes to today's elected representatives, they are either slandered or sainted by the press depending upon their particular political persuasion. Conservatives are excoriated for the very same things liberals are exonerated of. In yesterday's America, the potential of calling the media the enemy of the people would have been a "very dangerous" thing to do, since you would be kicking the watchdog of the people. Yet, in today's America, the really dangerous thing to do is not to kick the lapdog of liberals, which is continuously snapping at the heels of everything conservative and Christian in our country!

Do not let anyone fool you by telling you things that are not true, because these things will bring God’s anger on those who do not obey him. (Ephesians 5:6, The Expanded Bible)
