The mayor of America’s largest city, New York’s Mayor Bill de Blasio, has called on New Yorkers to boycott a Christian owned business, Chick-fil-A, because its owner believes in the biblical definition of marriage. At the same time, our federal government just sued the state of North Carolina over its governor’s refusal to allow perverts to invade North Carolinians’ privacy in the state’s public restrooms. A few years ago, Mayor Bill de Blasio, Attorney General Loretta Lynch, and even President Barack Obama would have been impeached over such screwy shenanigans faster than a sneeze through a screen door. Today, however, such insanity is not only perpetrated with immunity, but actually performed for political expediency’s sake. Far from being political suicide, it is done today to curry public favor, which proves, as we’ve been saying for years, that the real problem in America is not America’s politicians, as so many contend, but its population.

Pogo was right, “We have met the enemy and he is us.” Although most Americans will refuse to admit it, the real problem in today’s America is: “We the people.” Think about it; neither Donald Trump nor Hillary Clinton could have been elected dogcatcher in yesterday’s America. But in today’s America, they are the choice of the American people for the highest office in our land. In yesterday’s America, the American people would not only have insisted upon the impeachment of de Blasio, Lynch and Obama, but upon them being institutionalized as well. Today, however, they are cheered rather than committed and presiding over our country and its largest city rather than residing in padded cells.

Elected leaders, hoping for reelection, are limited in elected office to the likes of their constituents. Likewise, untoward leaders cannot transgress past the tolerance of the people. Therefore, politicians serve as a kind of looking-glass within which the electorate’s reflection can be clearly seen. For instance, many modern-day Americans complain about the false promises of present-day politicians. However, today’s voters would never vote for a candidate who told them the truth. Therefore, the only way for a politician to be elected to office by voters who prefer lies to truth is for the politician to be a liar. As a result, the lies of politicians are actually just a reflection of the people’s preference of lies over truth.

Here is a frightening truth; the American people have asked for Mayor de Blasio, Attorney General Lynch and President Obama.  Now, it looks like we’re about to ask for Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton. You’ve undoubtedly heard the old warning, “Be careful what you ask for.” Well, our country is not only getting what it ask for, but as a result, it’s done for!

Contrary to popular opinion, our problem can’t be solved by electing new political leaders. What we really need is a new population, a God-fearing one rather than a God-forsaking one. Of course, the only one who can give us what we need—a godly people rather than a godless one—is Jesus Christ, but, as is reflected by today’s politicians, present-day Americans are frowning on Him who alone can save them from themselves.

I think I’ll go to Chick-fil-A for a chicken sandwich and drown my sorrows with some of their tasty ice tea. I’ll be careful to go to the restroom before I leave the house, however. After all, in America today, there’s no telling who you might find in the men’s room of a public restaurant.
