I introduced a recent sermon on the Prophet Habakkuk by explaining to my congregation that he saw his nation as a ticking time bomb about to explode. Like the ancient Prophet Habakkuk, I see my nation today as a ticking time bomb about to explode. There is a simmering anger in America today that is on the verge of reaching the boiling point and boiling over on us all. Unfortunately, our country's leaders, who have been firing up the citizenry's fury for years, appear total oblivious to the boiling caldron our country has become.
The American people have been disenfranchised in our representative republic for years. Politicians have nullified our votes and voices with impunity. They've done so without fear of accountability, since our so-called free press has become an American version of Pravda, no longer serving as a watchdog for the people, but as a lapdog for the politicians.
Obamacare, the government takeover of our healthcare, was forced upon us against our will and wishes. It was backroom deals made by self-serving politicians, not legislation passed in the light of day by our government representatives, that resulted in Obamacare. Our voices and votes have been furthered overridden by a president with a pen in hand, who continues to dictate to us through his executive fiats, and by judges with gavels in hand, who continue to nullify our voices and votes through their judicial despotism.
America's Republican Party has continuously disenfranchised voters by reneging on their campaign promises once elected to office. Now, they're plotting the ultimate in voter disenfranchisement by scheming to replace primary voters' nominee for the presidency with their own handpicked nominee at this summer's Republican Convention. What greater snub could there possibly be to millions of voters than for their elected nominee for the presidency to be disallowed by a handful of political elites who deem the people's choice to be unsuitable to them?
As though disenfranchisement from our representative republic was not infuriating enough, our government, with the passage of its new hate crime laws, is now attempting to police our thoughts, as well as to prosecute us for any politically incorrect thinking. Its not just our medical care that Big Brother wants to control, but our minds as well. He wants everything in our lives, from the thoughts we think to the words we say, under his iron fist.
When you add to all of the above, the growing hostilities between Americans spawned by divisive politics, which is the only way progressives can win at the polls, since their ideas are repudiated by a majority of the populace, you truly see how close the American powder keg is to exploding. For years, liberals have attempted to build a political base for the Democratic Party by pitting American against American. They've purposely pitted race against race, class against class, haves against have-nots, taxpayers against welfare and entitlement recipients, religion against religion, citizens against immigrants, the moral against the immoral, and the God-fearing against atheists and all who want to profane our culture. As a result, our volatile situation in today's America is about to erupt into a nightmare scenario that could not even have been dreamed of in yesterday's America.
Our impervious politicians continue to unbelievably throw fuel on the fire of seething public outrage, which leaves me convinced that they, like Pharaoh of old, are being desensitized by divinity in order to lead our nation to its destruction. Like ancient Egypt's Pharaoh, America's modern-day politicians are proving themselves to be hardhearted enough to inexplicably lead our nation down the path of one disaster after another until we've fully drunk the cup of God's wrath and lie in complete ruins beneath the heavy hand of divine retribution.
I know everyone wants an answer to our country's current dilemma, but I'm convinced there is no answer. America has passed a point of no return with God. There is hope for you, your family and your friends, but not for our country. Our country has become spiritually reprobate. It has become so steeped in sin and hardhearted toward God that it is hopelessly unrepentant. Hopefully, that is not the case with you, your family or your friends. If not, I employ you to turn from your sin with a broken heart and to the Savior, Jesus Christ, with all of your heart today. I also employ you to employ your family and friends to do the same, before it is everlasting too late. Time is not just swiftly running out on America, but on you, your family, and your friends as well!
