A liberal politician, Martin O'Malley, has apologized for saying at a liberal conference, which was disrupted by demonstrators, "All lives matter." According to O'Malley, he meant no disrespect to the demonstrators, who were mostly black, by stating that "white lives matter" as well as "black lives." In response to O'Malley's statement, the demonstrators booed him and shouted him down. Now, make no mistake about it; there is clear disrespect and bigotry here, but it is on the part of the demonstrators. Furthermore, there is clear moral cowardice here on the part of Martin O'Malley, as well as on the part of all modern-day politicians of O'Malley's ilk.

Am I showing disrespect to whites or being insensitive to white people if I say, "Black lives matter"? Obviously not! If I told you white demonstrators booed and shouted me down for publicly making such a statement, would you not conclude that the demonstrators were donned in white robes and hoods? Would you not conclude that such a demonstration was perpetrated by the most deplorable kind of bigots? What if I apologized to the demonstrators afterward for saying, "Black lives matter," explaining that I meant no disrespect to the demonstrators and am in sympathy with their sentiments? Would this not prove me to be either petrified of the bigots or in perfect accord with their bigotry? In O'Malley's case, his skin pigmentation forces us to conclude the former rather than the latter. He is petrified by black bigots, as is the vast majority of modern-day politicians.

One of the worst plagues on present-day America is "white guilt." White guilt over past atrocities, such as slavery and segregation, has resulted in such acquiescence to the black community as to put all whites under the thumb of racial demagoguery. No matter how outlandish black bigotry flaunts itself in today's America, no peep of protest can be heard from white Americans least they be readily condemned as racists. As a result, African Americans are immune from any charge of racism, even when publicly protesting that only black lives matter, and white Americans are charged with racism for nothing more than daring to suggest that all lives matter, white lives as well black lives.
