Who could have ever dreamed of a day in America when boycotts of states would be held over the right of a man in a dress to use the ladies' restroom? Both the NCAA and the ACC are moving playoff events out of North Carolina over the state's recently passed law to protect women's privacy in public bathrooms from being invaded by transgendered Toms who think they're Thomasinas. Of course, in the typical fashion of spineless and greasy palmed present-day politicians, North Carolina state legislators are beginning to backpedal on their recently passed legislation, thanks to the protest of North Carolina business owners over the Tar Heel state’s potential loss of millions in revenue. Don’t forget what the Bible says, “The love of money is the root of all evil” (1 Timothy 6:10).

I was watching an old Western last night on television. It was produced in 1948. Near the end of the movie, an old judge, who is protesting against lawlessness and mob rule, makes the profound observation that “the rights of the people” has “been the rallying cry of hooligans ever since the beginning of time.” Wow, even back then people understood how hooligans could take over the country under the guise of being the champions of the people. Remember, failing to learn from history destines us to repeat it.

In Daniel Chapter 2, the Bible pictures the end-time Gentile world power as the iron and clay mixed feet and toes of Nebuchadnezzar’s nightmarish image. The iron symbolizes a representative republic, like the Roman Empire, which is symbolized by the image’s iron legs. The clay represents man, who was made by God from the red clay of the earth. For instance, the first man’s name, “Adam,” means “red.” Therefore, the end-time Gentile world power, as the Prophet Daniel predicts, will be a representative republic torn apart by man’s clamoring for individual and group rights. Sound like any present-day world power you know?

In addition to the above, Revelation’s church of Laodicea, to whom Jesus addresses the final letter of His 7 letters to the churches of Asia Minor, is believed by many to symbolize the apostate church of the end-time. Notice, it is an unredeemed church, Christ is on the outside knocking to get in (Revelation 3:20). Furthermore, it is “lukewarm” about Christ, feeling no need of Him, since it believes itself to be self-sufficient—“rich and in need of nothing” (Revelation 3:15-18). When you add to all of this the fact that the name “Laodicea” actually means “the rights of the people,” you have a perfect description from this prophetic text of the contemporary church in America. And my fellow Christians still wonder why I’m convinced we’re at the end of time and our country is at the end of the road.
