Abraham Lincoln once said, "The will of God prevails. In great contests each party claims to act in accordance with the will of God. Both may be, and one must be, wrong." To the spiritually minded man there can be no doubt that both political parties in this year's presidential election are wrong. Furthermore, they are both equally culpable for the sad state of affairs in present-day America, one (Democratic Party) because of its godlessness and the other (Republican Party) because of its gutlessness.

The amazing thing about the sovereignty of God is that His plans and purposes are not thwarted in the least by anything man does or fails to do. A sovereign God can even turn man's wrong into a way to work out His divine will in this fallen world. Still, you shouldn't take undue solace in God's sovereignty, believing that all will work out well for our country.

It may be, and in my opinion definitely is, that divine providence is presently steering us unswervingly toward inevitable judgment. I believe proof of this pudding is found in the two presidential candidates we've picked for ourselves. What unquestionable divine justice is found in the fact that the Almighty is about to give America what Americans have asked for, either Hillary or Trump.

Another famous quote of Lincoln's occurred when he was asked if he believed God was on his side. Lincoln responded, “Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side, but whether we are on God’s side, for God is always right.” Whose side are you on in this year's presidential election, Hillary's, Trump's or God's? Are you siding with your country or with Christ?
