The Prophet Mohammed attributed his success in spreading Islam to his use of terror. He said that he had both "been helped" and "made victorious with terror." He defined his mission in no uncertain terms, declaring, "I was commanded by Allah to fight with people until they say 'There is no god but Allah and Mohammed is his prophet.' " He went even further when he vowed, "I swear by him who has my soul in his hands, I was sent to you with nothing but slaughter."

In spite of the founder of Islam's clear teachings, our president insisted in his speech at yesterday's "Summit on Countering Violent Extremism" that: "No religion is responsible for terrorism." To our president's credit, however, he did admit that ISIL seeks "religious legitimacy" for its terrorist atrocities by "selectively" drawing "from the Islamic texts." What Mr. Obama failed to say is how easy it is for ISIL terrorists to do so, since the Koran contains 123 verses that teach Muslims to fight and kill for the cause of Allah. For instance, there is the Koran's famous verse of the Sword, which teaches Muslims to "fight and slay the pagans wherever you find them and seize them, besiege them and lie in wait for them in every stratagem [of war]."

According to President Obama, ISIL terrorists "have perverted Islam" and are trying to "propagate the notion that America -- and the West, generally -- is at war with Islam." The truth is; ISIL terrorists are true followers of the Prophet Mohammed who believe what the Religion of the Sword has always taught. According to Islam, the world is divided into two households: "Dar al-Islam" and "Dar al-Harb." The first of the two, "Dar al-Islam," is the "house of Isalm." It is made up of the world's 1.3 billion Muslims. The second household, "Dar al-Harb," is "the house of war." It is made up of the world's non-Muslim population with whom Muslims are at war until the whole world is brought under Islamic control.

This war, fought by Muslims to force all people everywhere to their knees before Allah, the god of Islam, is called "Jihad" or "Holy War." The Koran not only teaches that jihad is an obligation of all Muslims, but that any Muslim who refuses to engage in physical warfare for Allah is a hypocrite and apostate. Mohammed even declared "Jihad" to be the greatest thing any Muslim could ever do in the service of Allah. He once said, "The sword is the key of heaven and hell; a drop of blood shed in the cause of Allah, a night spent in arms, is of more avail than two months of fasting or prayer: whosoever falls in battle, his sins are forgiven, and at the day of judgment his limbs shall be supplied by the wings of angels and cherubim."

Although it is true that moderate Muslims, especially in the West, teach that modern-day Jihad is nothing more than a Muslim's internal struggle with sin, such teaching flies in the face of the teachings of the Koran, the Prophet Mohammed and of the history of Islam—the Religion of the Sword. Islam always has been, still is, and always will be a militant religion on the march with drawn sword to force all people to their knees before Allah, the god of Islamic Jihadists. How ill-prepared are we to confront this threat to our civilization when we refuse to face the truth about it?
