It was once inconceivable in this country that a socialist could run for president, much less receive millions of votes, pile up wins in one presidential primary after another, and, at least in one national poll, come out on top as the presidential candidate with the best chance to win the White House. But these are strange days in America, a country which has not only ceased to be what it was, but to even resemble its former self. Like Dorothy in the Wizard of Ox, it's time we realized that we're not in Kansas—America—anymore. We've been transported by a whirlwind to some dreamland where we're headed down some yellow brick road to some fanciful utopia with traveling companions who lack brains, hearts and courage.
Sanders' biggest supporters are our virtual reality loving younger generation. The fact they prefer virtual reality (fantasy) to reality (fact) goes a long way in explaining why our younger generation is "feeling the Bern." They have no problem believing the unbelievable: (1) that socialism is the solution to our nation's problems and that Bernie Sanders is our savior (2) that our bankrupt government can keep handing out free stuff (3) that economic equality can be obtained by dividing the hard-earned income of America's fewer and fewer hard workers with the ever-growing number of Americans on the government dole (4) that our racial problems can be solved by pandering to racial demagogues like Al Sharpton and the "Black Lives Matter" mob (5) that world peace can be obtained by voluntarily disarming ourselves and flashing a big peace sign to folks like ISIS, the mad mullahs of Iran, North Korean madman Kim Jong-un, and Russia's Vladimir Putin, and (6) that all offenses will cease, everyone's feelings will be spared, and no one's self-esteem threatened if we'll just start prosecuting the politically incorrect as hate mongers spewing out hate speech and inciting hate crimes.
The wise King Solomon counseled us to enjoy life while we were young, before "the evil days" come and take the "pleasure" of life from us (Ecclesiastes 11:8-12:1). We can all remember the fanciful dreams we had when we were young, before they were dissipated and dissolved by the harsh and hard realities of life. In this fallen world, we are forced to face this sad truth, the older we get the more our heads are pulled down out of the clouds and the more our feet get firmly planted on terra firma.
The evil day is soon coming to America, a nation that has forsaken God and exchanged the truth for lies. When it does, no one will feel the "Bern" anymore, for America will be awakened from its fanciful dreams to face the very real nightmare of God's judgment.
Is there any wonder that Solomon instructed us to remember our Creator in the days of our youth and to live our whole lives in obedience to His commands (Ecclesiastes 12:1,13)? After all, as the wise King Solomon concluded, this is the whole "duty of man" and the whole purpose of life. Contrary to popular opinion, life is really not about our pleasure and the dreams we dream from which it is derived. Instead, it is about Jesus Christ and whether or not we are really living our lives for Him, our Creator. Are you? If not, your living a lie and will soon be awaken to the truth of your fatal mistake.
