In a recent television interview, New York Senator Charles Schumer announced to the nation that “the world has changed” and the day of “traditional values… is over.” Although I can’t disagree with the good senator’s synopsis of our present-day, putrefying world, I do find the glee with which Senator Schumer makes such a pronouncement most disturbing. Senator Schumer, along with the bulk of his fellow-Democrats, not to mention a growing number of Republicans, is absolutely giddy about the demise of traditional values. One gets the feeling listening to “Chuck” that he’s not the least bit unhappy over decency’s demise, but more than happy to bid it a hearty “good riddance.”
For a long time, Democrats, like Schumer, have held decent people in derision and vilified everyone still clinging to traditional values in today’s politically correct culture. For instance, Senator Schumer once justified the Democrats’ filibustering of a professed Christian jurist by explaining how “anyone” possessing such “strongly held views” should be disqualified from serving on the federal judiciary. In other words, New York’s senior senator believes that all bona fide believers in Christ are unfit to sit on the federal bench. So much for the religious test clause of the United States Constitution: “No religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.”
When Christians got together to protest the Democratic Party’s discrimination against Christian judicial nominees, Chuck Schumer accused a participating Republican senator of throwing “oil on partisan flames” and encouraging “violence against judges” with his “inflammatory rhetoric.” The New York Times, better known these days as the Democratic Party’s national newsletter, went even further, calling the Christian protest a “shameful declaration of religious war.”
Believe you me, the last thing Chuck Schumer and the New York Times wants is a religious war. Their happy with the current arrangement; namely, a firing squad. As long as Christians stay blindfolded and stand still against the wall so that liberals can continue taking potshots at people of faith, all is well in Chuck Schumer’s Shangri-La. However, the moment we take off our blindfolds, duck behind the wall and start defending ourselves, we’re encouraging violence and shamefully declaring a religious war.
Interestingly, Schumer and his ilk never target Muslims like they do Christians in their attacks upon people of faith, despite Islam’s strict moral code. Perhaps, the explanation for the overlooking of Muslims in the liberals’ all out war against morality is found in those “fatwas” that begin flying every time the Muslim faith is maligned. Instead of publicly maligning Christians and marching in Gay Pride Parades, old “Chuck” may end up sharing a hideout with Salman Rushdie if he ever starts impugning the followers of Mohammed the same way he does the followers of Jesus. Though neither he nor his fellow-Democrats are smart enough to figure it out, one of the main reasons for the Islamic world’s hostility toward the West is our country’s throwing off of all moral restraints and worldwide marketing of decadence.
Make no mistake about it; it’s open season in America today on all moral and God-fearing people. The only exception appears to be the “fatwa” armed Muslim. Unless your religion teaches the decapitation of all who hold it in derision, your fair game for liberal firing squads. While you can’t disagree with a homosexual over same-sex marriage without being denounced by the Schumers of this world as a hate-monger, the Schumers of this world can open fire on you with immunity and without fear of incrimination.
In today’s America, vice has become virtue and virtue has become vice. Decency is attacked, while decadence is applauded. Moral people are evil and immoral people are good. And as if this sorry state of affairs was not bad enough, we’ve got national leaders, like Charles Schumer, who not only revel in the death of traditional values, but are more than willing to stand in line to spit on their grave! Is there any doubt that this nation has finally sunk six feet under?
