Whereas I perfectly understand the symbolism of a jackass with the Democratic Party, I've never understood the symbolism of a elephant with the Republican Party, since elephants, unlike Republicans, have great memories. For instance, how many Republicans today remember when a Republican controlled Senate refused to push the nuclear option button to confirm President Bush's conservative judicial nominees over Democratic filibusters? According to Republicans, they chickened out in order to keep a future Democratic controlled senate from confirming a Democratic president's liberal judicial nominees over Republican filibusters. CAN A TRUE MUSLIM BE AN AMERICAN PATRIOT?

Today's politicians, as well as today's media, often speak out of ignorance. The greater problem, however, is the ignorance of the American people, who don't know enough to know how much they are being misinformed. At no time, do today's politicians and journalists speak with more ignorance than when they take up the topic of religion. Here's a good example of it. Fox News has publicly rebuked Jeanine Pirro for suggesting on her show last Saturday that Representative Ilhan Omar’s Islamic religious beliefs may be in conflict with the U.S. Constitution. The incontrovertible truth is; Pirro is correct, if Representative Omar is a faithful follower of Islam, and Fox News doesn't have a clue.

At the conclusion of the Constitutional Convention, Benjamin Franklin was asked by Dr. James McHenry, "Well, what have we got—a Republic or a Monarchy?” Franklin responded, "A Republic, if you can keep it.” Our Founding Fathers founded our nation as a representative republic. Constituents (voters) were to elect representatives to represent them in Congress; that is, to represent their convictions and best interests.
