TODAY'S DEVOTION ON THE BIBLE
The sharp two-edged sword of the Word of God “is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12). Man’s heart is exposed by his actions. As Jesus taught in John 14:21, the proof of our love for Him is whether or not we live for Him. If we obey the teachings of the Bible, our hearts belong to Christ. If we disobey the teachings of the Bible, our hearts are void of love for the Lord.
While anyone can profess Christ, many professors of Christ do not possess Christ. The absence of Christ from their heart is proven by their disobedience of Christ in their lives. Those whose profession is not proven by their practice may honor Christ with their lips, but, as the Bible shows, their hearts—true thoughts and intentions—are far from Him (Matthew 15:8).
