TODAY'S DEVOTION ON THE BIBLE

Contrary to popular opinion, the Bible is not optional advice for life. Neither is it, as many Christians believe, critical counsel for living. Instead, it is the prerequisite and essence of life itself.

When Moses, God’s law-giver, gave God’s Law to God’s people, he presented it to them with this most apropos public address: “Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law. For it is not a vain thing for you; because it is your life: and through this thing ye shall prolong your days in the land, whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.” (Deuteronomy 32:46-47)

Notice, Moses warned God’s people to never underestimate the importance of God’s Word. According to Moses, the Word of God is neither trivial nor optional. Instead, it is our life and a matter of our survival, as well as the survival of our children.
