TODAY'S DEVOTION ON THE BIBLE

The argument most often used against modern-day translations by people like Gail Riplinger is that they all deny the deity of Jesus Christ. For the most part, this argument is based on select verses where the KJV clearly asserts Christ’s deity and a modern translation does not. Let’s look at an example.

“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” (Isaiah 7:14 KJV)

“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, a young woman shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” (Isaiah 7:14 RSV)

“Ha Ha,” shouts the “King James Only” proponents. Whereas the King James Version clearly teaches the virgin birth of Christ, the Revised Standard Version does not. Here is a prime example of a verse used by the “King James Only” movement to support their theory that modern-day translations deny the deity of Jesus Christ. But do they really? Stay tuned.
