TODAY'S DEVOTION ON THE BIBLE

Having looked in our devotions thus far at the subjects of revelation and illumination, we now turn our attention to the equally important subject of inspiration.

Inspiration is the process by which God, through the Holy Spirit, breaths His Word into His chosen human messenger, enabling His messenger to deliver or record divine revelation. The Bible claims to be God-breathed and divinely inspired.

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:16 NIV)

The Bible is therefore the divinely inspired Word of God. It is God’s written revelation of Himself to mankind, which was penned by men divinely inspired by God. It is not man’s word or human opinions, but God’s Word and divine oracles.

“Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” (2 Peter 1:20-21 NIV)
