“When they led Him away, they seized a man, Simon of Cyrene, coming in from the country, and placed on him the cross to carry behind Jesus. And following Him was a large crowd of the people…” (Luke 23:26-27)

“When they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified Him…And the people stood by, looking on…" (Luke 23:33-35)

On the day Christ was crucified, the people followed, stood by and looked on. Christ’s crucifixion was therefore not only a result of public complicity (Luke 23:20-24), but also of public complacency. It could not have occurred had it not been for the people, their part in it and refusal to prevent it.

Likewise, our country’s putting away of our Christian heritage could not have occurred without the complicity and complacency of the American people. We can point fingers in other directions, but every time we do, there are still three fingers pointing back at ourselves. We can’t escape the fact that our nation’s present glum circumstances and gloomy prospects are a direct result of our complicity and complacency.

There would be no lying politicians if we wouldn’t vote for them.

There would be no trash on T.V. if we wouldn’t watch it.

There would be no profane and blasphemous comedians if we wouldn’t laugh at them.

There would be no profane and blasphemous entertainers if we wouldn’t applaud them.

There would be no illegal immigrants if we wouldn’t hire them.

There would be no legalized abortion if we wouldn’t stand for it. 

There would be no pornography if we wouldn’t buy it.

There would be no illegal drugs if we wouldn’t take them.

There would be no alcoholism if we wouldn’t drink.

There would be no liberal press if we wouldn’t read it.

There would be no false religions and cults if we wouldn’t believe in them.

There would be no economic crisis in America if we wouldn’t covet.
