WE CAN’T STAND THE TRUTH

“Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.” (John 18:37)

To be receptive to the truth is the distinguishing mark of a subject of Christ’s Kingdom. On the other hand, to refuse to hear and heed the truth is to prove oneself a foreigner to the Kingdom of God. No one who refuses to listen and live by the Words of Christ can possibly be His subject nor own Him as their King.

It is often asked in today’s America, “Why do our politicians lie to us?” The simple truth is; most Americans wouldn’t vote for a politician who told us the truth. We want to be promised the moon, but never told the truth. Therefore, today’s politicians avoid the truth like a plague and are ever-ready to make whatever promises the electorate demands, regardless of whether or not they can actually deliver on the promises they make.

Not being subjects of Christ’s Kingdom, most Americans can’t stand the truth. That’s why they’ll never vote for any politician who stands for it. Honestly, what hope does a candidate for political office have of being elected in today’s America if he runs on a revival platform; that is, if he takes to the stump and calls for our nation to repent of its sins and to return to the God of the Bible? You know as well as I do that such a candidate has a short-lived political future in today’s politically correct America, in spite of the fact that revival truly is our country’s only hope of survival.

Some will protest, as they always do, that politicians aren’t preachers and therefore should never dabble in religion. Indeed, they are forbidden from doing so by the illusionary wall of separation between church and state. Yet, all of this folderol is merely one of a myriad of ruses presently employed to suppress the truth in modern-day America.

“I never give them hell. I just tell the truth and they think it's hell." (President Harry Truman)
