CBS Picks Perky Katie

With its biased reporting and fallacious stories based on forged documents having raised Americans’ suspicions as to what the “BS” in “CBS” really stands for, CBS News officially announced yesterday its selection of Katie Couric to fill Dan Blather’s, I mean Rather’s, anchor chair. Perky Katie, who once chipperly announced on NBC’s Today show that “the Gipper [late President Ronald Reagan, who was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease at the time] was an airhead,” will be a perfect replacement for Rather who once said of scandal-ridden President Bill Clinton, “I think at core he’s an honest person…I think you can be an honest person and lie about any number of things.”
Whereas Couric is a perfect fit for a network that concocts stories to condemn conservatives and is committed to convincing its viewers that liberalism is the cure-all for all of our country’s ills, she is even more in sync with CBS’s crusade against all things Christian. Having earned the nickname “Christian Bashing System,” thanks to Bryant Gumbel being caught on camera calling a Christian guest on CBS’s Early Show “a f——g idiot” and Bernard Goldberg’s reporting of a CBS News producer referring to presidential candidate Gary Bauer as “the little nut from the Christian group,” CBS should prove to be a perfect home for perky Katie, who has publicly condemned “Christian conservatives,” who she dubs “religious zealots,” for the murders of James Byrd, an African-American, and Matthew Shephard, a homosexual. With so distorted a view of today’s Christian community, is there any wonder that CBS’s Harry Smith asked Pastor Rick Warren if church-going families who had compassionately taken in Hurricane Katrina victims would subsequently deny them food if they refused to be proselytized.
Everyone knows that a ship’s anchor is supposed to keep the ship from drifting. Well, I believe Katie Couric, CBS’s new news anchor, will keep CBS’s viewership stationary. It won’t be going anywhere. The left-wing Kool-Aid drinkers will continue to guzzle down all that CBS serves up, namely, its slanted news and slander of Christians. Serious folks, however, will continue looking elsewhere for a far more reliable source for their daily news.
