Fitting Your Daughter Burqa

What would you say if over 500 weapons of mass destruction were found in Iraq? Well, the truth is, one of the world’s largest chemical weapons arsenals, consisting of more than 500 sarin, nerve and VX weapons, has been discovered in Iraq. Furthermore, tapes have been captured upon which Saddam Hussein and his Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Aziz are heard discussing the possibility of using a terrorist group like al- Qaeda to carryout a biological weapons attack on the U.S. Yet, you’ve probably never seen a word of this reported in your local newspaper. Despite the fact that it is obviously major news, today’s mainstream media has, for the most part, refused to report it. Why?

There is no shortage of stories on American atrocities committed at Abu Ghraib, Haditha and Guantanamo Bay. These are front page stories with bold, glaring headlines. Still, nary a word is reported about WMDs discovered in Iraq. It’s as though the mainstream media’s reporting on the war has become totally one-sided, and the side the media has taken is not ours but our enemy’s.

It was newspapers like the New York Times and Washington Post that pushed for the 9/11 Commission. When 9/11 commissioners chastened our government for its “failure of…imagination” to thwart terrorists, the Times and Post not only cheered the commissioners, but joined them in chastening the government. Since then, however, both the New York Times and Washington Post have been on a crusade to expose and cripple any secret program our government comes up with to fight terrorism. As a consequence of such treasonous reporting, the war on terror is harder for our government to execute, American lives are increasingly imperiled, and the New York Times and Washington Post have both won Pulitzer Prizes, the Post for exposing CIA operations and the Times for exposing the National Security Agency’s wiretapping program.

This past week the New York Times exposed a critical government program to track terrorists’ financial transactions. Interestingly, the Times committed this atrocity against our country in spite of protest from every quarter, including the chairmen of the 9/11 Commission. Although no constitutional issues were in question and practically everyone on both sides of the political aisle agree that this program was vital to our country’s war on terror, the Times took it upon itself to expose the program and give all terrorists a heads up.

Isn’t it high time to call the New York Times, along with much of today’s mainstream media, treasonous? While it hides behind the First Amendment and Freedom of the Press, today’s press goes out of its way to harm America, incite worldwide anti-Americanism, and aid and abet all who are bent upon our destruction. As Rod Martin, the founder and chairman of TheVanguard.Org, recently wrote, “It’s a good thing we have a ‘new media.’ Because the old one is fitting your daughter for her burqa.” Amen!
