“Jihad U” may soon be holding classes again. A Tampa jury found Professor Sami al-Arian not guilty on eight criminal counts and failed to return guilty verdicts on forty-three others. Although he is still jailed on an immigration matter, Mr. Arian’s defense lawyers plan to file a motion next week to have him released on bond. Perhaps, the terrorists-sympathizing professor will then be asked to return to the University of South Florida to teach the Al-Qaeda Training Manual.

Despite such anti-American tirades as: “Let us damn Israel. Let us damn America. Let us damn them and their allies unto death,” Professor al-Arian’s wife assured the throngs gathered outside the courthouse that the good professor “loves America.” Although Nahla al-Arian guaranteed everyone that her husband is not anti-American, she offered no such assurances that he is not anti-Semitic. After all, the good professor calls Jews “monkeys and swine,” their murderers “martyrs,” and asserts that all Jewish people are “damned” by Allah, who the Muslims assure us is “most merciful.”

Apparently Dr. Arian’s defense team was successful at convincing the jury that the moneys he raised for the Palestinian Islamic Jihad— designated by the United States as a terrorist group—were for humanitarian purposes not terrorist activity. In other words, the money he raised was okay because it was used to buy food instead of ammunition. Of course without benefactors like the good professor, terrorists would have less money to buy bombs and be less likely to volunteer for suicide missions, since they would have no guarantor of their families’ continual sustenance after their demise.

Celebrating the eight “not guilty” verdicts and the jury deadlocking on all other criminal counts, Nahla al-Arian spoke of her husband’s faith in the American judicial system, which, she added, had not failed him. Like Sami al-Arian, another Muslim leader recently spoke of his faith in our system. According to him, our “democratic laws” will enable Muslims to “invade” us and eventually “dominate” us. As Nahla al-Arian attested and her husband’s trial proves, Islamists like Sami al-Arian are not being “failed” by an American judicial system determined to prove itself a means to the “Muslim World’s” ends. Can you say “Allahu Akbar”?
