A New Christian Comes Out of the Closet and Let's the Cat Out of the Bag

Charlene Cothran, the publisher of Venus Magazine, a periodical targeting homosexual African-Americans, recently announced that she has become a Christian. Unlike so many in today’s gay community who merely profess, but do not possess Christ, Ms. Cothran appears to have really met the Savior. Repenting of her sin and renouncing the homosexual lifestyle that she has lived for her “entire adult life,” Ms. Cothran has publicly acknowledged that as “a believer of the Word of God” and a recipient of the life-changing power of Jesus Christ she must now confess what she has always known; namely, “that same-sex relationships are not what God intended for us.”
Undoubtedly, today’s gay community is wishing this new Christian had stayed in the closet, especially in view of the fact that the clincher in Cothran’s coming to Christ was her inability to square homosexual behavior with the Biblical prohibition on sex outside of a one-man, one-woman marriage. Unlike Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson and a score of other homosexual make-believers, Charlene Cothran has let the proverbial cat out of the bag, admitting that one cannot be a true follower of Jesus Christ while leading a homosexual lifestyle.
Having professed to have lied about her former feelings that homosexuality is natural and having testified to having had a supernatural encounter with Jesus Christ in which “Jesus washed [her] and forgave [her] and redeemed [her] for His work,” Ms. Cothran has now unapologetically announced her sincere intention to “be just as ‘out’ about [her] transformation as [she] was about [her] lesbian life.” According to her, she plans to continue publishing Venus magazine, but with a drastically changed focus. Instead of championing the homosexual lifestyle, the magazine will now call homosexuals to Christ, who alone can save them from their sin.
Let’s pray for Charlene Cothran. She is definitely going to need it, not only because she is a new Christian, but also because she is a shining trophy of God’s grace that will be mercilessly targeted by the homosexual community for repudiating its lies.
