DAILY DEVOTIONS > 8. LOST CONNECTION

The Importance of Confessing Your Sins to God

Yesterday, I was unable to post an article, due to the fact that I lost my connection to the Internet. As aggravating as it was to spend a day with no Internet connection, it is far more trying to spend a day with no divine connection.

Have you ever wondered why it is so important for us Christians to confess our sins to God? I mean if all of our sins—past, present and future—are forgiven when we come to Christ, why do we still need to acknowledge our shortcomings to God every time we sin?

According to the ancient prophet Amos, “two [cannot] walk together, except they be agreed” (Amos 3:3). Every time we sin we have a disagreement with God. As long as we disagree with God we cannot walk with Him. Thus, the only way to restore our walk with God is to acknowledge our sins to God. Once we acknowledge our sins and agree with God about them our divine connection is reestablished. Our fellowship is restored.

Getting back your Internet connection may involve a complicated process. Getting back your divine connection, however, is as simple as confessing your sins. While you may not be able to avoid spending a day without an Internet connection, you need never spend another day without a divine one.
