TODAY'S DEVOTION ON THE BIBLE
While there is no shame in a new convert being bottle-fed Biblical milk, it is a shame for a Christian to remain on the bottle long after his or her conversion. As Hebrews 5:12-14 teaches, many Christians are still in need of being taught the Bible’s ABCs years after enrolling in the school of Christ. These Christians have never graduated from spiritual kindergarten, despite the fact that they should have long since earned a spiritual post-graduate degree and become a spiritual professor to younger Christians.
As natural newborns should not remain on the bottle past the first few months of their natural lives, neither should spiritual newborns remain on the bottle past the first few months of their spiritual lives. To do so is to stunt one’s spiritual growth, with the resulting consequence of needing to be constantly babied, which explains the widespread need of spiritual pacifiers and Pablum among present-day parishioners.
