TODAY'S DEVOTION ON THE BIBLE

In Ephesians 6:11-17, the Apostle Paul admonishes us to suit up for spiritual warfare in the full armor of God. Paul’s description of our spiritual armor begins with its defensive pieces.

First, we must put on the belt of truth, which protects us from the lies of the father of lies (John 8:44).

Second, we must put on “the breastplate of righteousness,” which protects us from the condemnation of the accuser of the brethren (Romans 8:1; Revelation 12:10).

Third, we must “shod” our feet with “the gospel of peace,” which alone assures us of firm footing in this fallen world filled with satanically inspired false religions.

Fourth, we must take up “the shield of faith,” with which we can defend ourselves against the devil’s “fiery darts” of doubt.

Fifth, we must put on “the helmet of salvation.” It protects our minds from demonically induced vain imaginations and human reason, which obscures divine revelation and obstructs us from a true knowledge of God (2 Corinthians 10:5).

All of these important pieces of our spiritual armor are essential to our protection in spiritual warfare. Without every one of them in place, we are vulnerable to a spiritually debilitating or fatal wound from the hand of our formable spiritual foe.
