TODAY'S DEVOTION ON THE BIBLE

In his last New Testament epistle, written from Rome’s infamous Mamertine Prison shortly before his execution, the Apostle Paul attempted to encourage his young protege Timothy by assuring him that God’s Word, unlike God’s servants, could never be bound (2 Timothy 2:8-9). The Word of God can never be chained nor incarcerated. Man cannot, as he has futilely attempted to do throughout human history, silence the Gospel by persecuting, imprisoning or even executing preachers of the Gospel.

In Isaiah 55:11, the Lord declares, “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” Nothing or no one can prevent God from accomplishing through His Word all that He pleases to accomplish in this world. God’s Word—the Bible—will prevail and prosper, since it is unbound and unconquerable.
