Many people today are unaware of the fact that the translators of the KJV suffered the same accusations and persecution that modern-day translators suffer. They responded to these charges in the preface to the 1611 KJV by boldly declaring that a “variety of Translations is profitable for the finding out of the sense of the Scriptures.” Ironically, if they were alive today, the KJV translators would not be in the “King James Only” camp; instead, they would be strong advocates not only of modern-day translations, but for additional translations as well.
