TODAY'S DEVOTION ON THE BIBLE
I believe any discussion of the important issue of Bible translations should begin with a clear statement of a fundamental and cardinal doctrine of the Christian Faith. The Bible is the divinely inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God. It is God’s divinely inspired written revelation of Himself to fallen humanity. It has Christ for its subject, salvation for its end, and truth, without error for its content. In its original manuscripts, the Bible was written by its divinely inspired authors without error.
Whereas the authors of Scripture were divinely inspired, translators are not. This does not mean that translators do not go to great lengths to assure the meticulous accuracy of their translations to the original languages. Neither does it mean that God has not used them to miraculously preserve His Word through the ages, as is easily proven by the comparison of ancient manuscripts with later manuscripts and all of these biblical manuscripts with Bible translations. Still, translators of the Bible, both past and present, lack the divine inspiration given by God to the authors of the Bible.
