TODAY'S DEVOTION ON THE BIBLE
Far from throwing off on other translations, the King James Translators professed that they had compared other translations with one another in an effort to assure their correct translation “of the original sacred tongues” into English. Furthermore, they called earlier translators of the Bible “worthy men who went before” them. They added, however, that these earlier translators, just like themselves, had become “subject to the censures of ill meaning and discontented persons,” which they claimed was always the case with any new translation of the Scriptures.
