THE BIBLE IS NOT JUST THE "SWORD OF THE SPIRIT," AS WE SAW IN YESTERDAY'S TRIBUTE TO THE BIBLE, BUT IT IS ALSO A SHARP, PIERCING, TWO-EDGED SWORD AS WELL. IT PIERCES DEEP ENOUGH TO AFFECT ONE'S PHYSICAL WELL-BEING, AS WELL AS TO EXPOSE WHAT IS SOULISH FROM WHAT IS SPIRITUAL AND WHAT IS MERE PRETENSE FROM WHAT IS REALLY THOUGHT AND INTENDED. ITS DOUBLE-EDGE CUTS THE REPENTANT BELIEVER WITH CONVICTION UNTO SALVATION AND THE UNREPENTANT UNBELIEVER WITH THE FATAL WOUND OF CONDEMNATION.
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)
