HIS NAME IS WONDERFUL

Bible Reading: Isaiah 9:6-7 & Revelation 19:11-12

To what should we attribute the prophet’s predicted coming Light, along with all of its accompanying attributes? According to Isaiah, we should attribute it to the birth of a Child—“For unto us a child is born, [and] unto us a son is given.”

Who is this extraordinary child? He is the “child…born” in Bethlehem and lain in a manger. He is the “son…given” on Calvary and hung on a cross. He is the babe that was born to die that men might be born again to live forever.

Though born in a stable, lain in a manger and hung on a tree, this child is destined for the throne. It is upon His shoulders that the “the government” of God’s Kingdom will rest. A kingdom unbounded in its dimensions—“Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end.” A kingdom unending in its duration—“upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever.” And a kingdom definite in its establishment— “The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.”

Is there any wonder that “His name shall be called Wonderful”? The Hebrew for “wonderful” implies something beyond human comprehension. This explains Revelation 19:11-12: “And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.” When the child lain in the feed-trough returns to claim His throne and the one crucified comes back for His coronation, His name will be so wonderful as to be beyond human comprehension.

His Name Is Wonderful, His Name Is Wonderful,
His Name Is Wonderful, Jesus My Lord;
He Is The Mighty King, Master Of Everything.
His Name Is Wonderful, Jesus My Lord.

He’s The Great Shepherd,
The Rock Of All Ages,
Almighty God Is He;
Bow Down Before Him, Love And Adore Him.
His Name Is Wonderful, Jesus, My Lord. (Audrey Mieir)
